With the pre skimmer, you wont half to worry about top offs as much if you drill a hole at the bottom of the pre skimmer so if your water level ever gets to low, you wont have the pump running dry.

So i unplugged my filter for a few hours the other day to dose with some chemicals i used to get rid of some cyano in my tank. now the skimmer is producing large amounts of micro bubbles again and very watery skimmate.

My question is, by unplugging it for that amount of time cause the skimmer to go through a break in cycle again? It is producing ALOT of foam in the collection area and is up to about 1.5 cups a day now. Should i let it go for a few more days? it seems its not bothering my fish at all.

most likely it's just cause of the chems in the tank... i added some meds to the tank to help a sick flame angel and and for close to a week the remora was producing really watery skimmate in the collection cup... like 1 full cup a day... now i'dt's back to normal, so just give it a bit to let it clear out the chems you added. and raise the cup even more to try and get it looking denser/dryer
