Just wondering if anybody has been able to get anything but wet skimmate out of their Remora Pro. I swapped out a Maxijet 1200 (295 gph) for a Hagan 70 (802) (400 gph) powerhead on mine. It's now generating as much skimmate overnight as it used to do in 2 weeks. I used to keep the cup all the way down. Now I keep it half way up it is filling up with nice green wet skimmate.

The question I have is that it is basically just green water. Should it be thicker than this? I guess the only issue with skimming wet is dropping the salinity since it is replaced with RO/DI water. Just looking for opinions.

Move the cup up higher, the skimmer might tank a couple days to break in with the new powerful pump

Yea, I like to keep mine up pretty high. Skimmate comes out really dark green and takes about a week to fill the cup.

If I put it at the lowest setting, the skimmate is very light green, almost yellow, and takes about a day to fill the cup.. Kinda of annoying because like you said, it throws off the salinity levels pretty quick, especially in a small setup like mine..

I have two Aqua C's. A regular on a 29g and a Pro on a 110. The Pro was originally matched up with a Mag 7. Too much! I got the wet, light green skimmate. I replaced the pump with a eco-plus 633. It is a cheaper pump that I don't believe produces what it claims. The skimmate has turned into a darker green/brown and smells much worse, i.e. it's working better, however it is still watery.

My Pro did take a significant break in period, approximately a week before it started throwing out the real nasty.

If it's broke in, try moving the cup and switching out the pump to get what YOU want.

BTW, I have a maxijet 1200 on my little one. I feel that it would be hugely underpowered for a Pro. You need to be in the 400-600 range for a Pro.

The Pro fills up every day or two, but on a 110 it does not alter the salinity to any appreciable extent.

What size ocean are you keeping?
