    Hello all,
I currently have an AquaticLife T5 fixture for my 55 gal with the stock two daytime 10000K bulbs, and two actinics. This is the exact model I have (48 inch):

AquaticLife T5 HO 4-Lamp Light Fixtures w/ Lunar LEDs

The time is soon coming up to replace the bulbs. I wanted to ask what are the best lights money can buy these days? What will give me the best performance and look? Also, what light combo should i go with? Two day time and two actinics again or maybe something different? Its my first time I'm in the market for new lights so i am clueless =[] any help/advice is appreciated, thank you!

The Giesemann Aquablue combined with the URI 454's is a great combo

ATI, UVL, Geisemann and KZ are the best bulbs to get.

I suggest getting ATI because they are the lowest priced and have the highest PAR.

I would suggest getting 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Purple Plus and 1 ATI Aquablue Special.
The Blue Plus is a blue bulb with a large amount of actinic spectra, The Purple Plus is the Blue Plus with red spetrum added in. The Aquablue Special is a 50/50 bulb and white in color. This reccommendation will give a 14000K to 15000K look. It will also have a lot more PAR then your current bulbs. You will want to change 1 bulb every 3 or 4 days to prevent photo shock to your corals. If you like the look you have buy another Aquablue Special in place of the Purple Plus. The Purple Plus will make your reds, pinks and purples look better.

Thank you for the responses everyone!

2in10, is there any specific reason other than price that i should go with ATI rather than UVL, Geisemann or KZ? Would UVL, Geisemann or KZ have any advantages over the ATI? I am willing to spend a little more if i will get better performance with UVL, Geisemann or KZ over the ATIs.

    Thanks!

For actinics, I personally like the UVL 454 bulbs. They're partially a 03 actinic, and partially a blue actinic, which makes them have a different spectrum than most other actinic bulbs.

As for purple, I like the ATI Purple Plus or KZ Fiji Purple. For a more daylight bulb, the ATI aquablue special is very nice.

    I have 1 (or 2?) x aquablue special, 4 (or 3?) x UVL 454, and 1 x KZ Fiji Purple on my tank.

On my previous post I said URI 454's. (Old habit....they now market using the name UVL instead of URI)

ATI is equal to or has better performance than the other bulbs.

What does PAR exactly mean? I'm new to all this.
