I recently rescued some clownfish from a friends tank that were getting bully'd by some other fish. I noticed that some of the fins seem to be a little frayed from being nipped at. Will these grow back? I'm glad I rescued them, but I'd really like to have attractive looking fish in my tank too!

Fins will recover as the fish becomes less stressed.

Fins recover really quickly, sometimes in as little as a day. They will be beautiful in no time!!

Good to know. The guys tank I got them from had two species of clowns. The percula clowns which I rescued were getting attacked by newly added Maroon and gold striped clowns. A male female pair. The female was 4 times their size....just massive. He actually rescued them from another tank.

I've heard maroons are the most aggressive of clowns, so I'm glad you rescued yours!

So is it a general rule not to have two of the same species in a tank? I've seen different tangs in a tank together. Is this more for clowns?

For clowns you can have 2 of the same species most of the time. One will be male, and the bigger will become the female, in most instances. It's when you mix 2 different species, or 2 different color types, that you can run into problems.

The clowns are doing great. They love the new tank! It's good to see them not getting beat up. What's the best type of food to feed them(first fish I've had). So far they are eating small pellets and not minding them too much.
