    This is a coral I got on a piece of LR I thought was dead..

    Hard to tell, might be a porites or possibly a montipora.

    I have my doubts about it being a montipora. I'll look into the Porites though!

    Me too, but you never know with corals, I have come to learn. Hoo boy! they can be hard to ID.

    Looks like psammocora to me; maybe pavona if not.
