ok I'm getting the finishing few things to get my 20L set up and now I have a question about reusing old rock. I haven't about 90 lbs of fiji that came out of a 90 reef about 8 years ago and I'd love to try and reuse about 20lbs on this build will I be ok just to rinse really good and let it cycle with tank? I'm going to add about 5lbs cured live rock with it but this would really help with rhe cost of scaping it.

I've done that before with no problems, and as a matter of fact, I'm cycling another tank right now with rock from a system I tore down a couple years ago.

You really only need to bleach rock that has something living on/in it that you want to get rid of.

I know this rock came from a reef tank because most of it I had purchased and let a friend have it when I took last tank down. He broke down his setup during a move and never got it back up and going so it's been dry for at least 7-8 years. He held onto it with his tank and he told me to come get what I needed if I could use it because he didn't know when he'd set back up. I was thinking of adding about 20lbs of it to save from having to buy dry rock and then adding about 5-10lbs of cured live rock to get it going. I still haven't made up my mind deffinatly but think this would be money I could put towards other thing for the tank.

Sounds like a good idea to me,the tank has to cycle anyway.

My old rock was dry for 6 1/2 years before I got this tank. I rinsed it really good & used it. Added 15 lbs of live.
