rinse or not?

    Starting a new tank, 240gal, got about 2 - 2.5 inches of dry fiji pink sand in bags. Should I rinse it or not? If further info is needed please let me know.

    If it is live sand absolutely not.You will kill all the live stuff you paid top dollar for. If dead, then yes, rinse it.

    dry sand - yes I would rinse it in RODI water, otherwise tank will be cloudy for a while and its not ideal IMO

    Live sand - I would not rinse

    its dry non live sand, guess I will rinse it!

    Can u post a pic of the sand when its in the tank? I just got done ordering 40 lbs of the fiji pink myself.
