So, today I had taken down my 75g :( very sad day for me. Basically I moved into my new apartment a few months ago, where my fish tank could not come with. It was at my dads, which I tried to get over there whenever I could to keep up on it, but it was just too hard with out me being there everyday, specialy with my work schedual. So I had to make the hard choice of taking it down. It was only for the best. I gave everything I had to two of my friends which also have tanks, and they told me whenever I start back up they will give me what ever Id like back.

In the meanwhile its KILLING me not to have a tank anymore, So Im thinking about going to a Nano tank, one where Id be able to keep at my apartment, and move easily whenever that time comes. My quesion to you guys is..

Are there any really important things i should know that i might not already???
And is there a specific type of nano tank that might be better than others??

I wanna hear from the Nano owners.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you want to keep some of the more difficult hard corals the JBJ 28 gal HQI and the BIO-cube HOI are good choices.

The JBJ is harder to modify. Both can have heat issues secondary to the metal halide.

My favorites are the Aquapod 24 gal, with PC lighting. And the JBJ with either the LED lighting or the metal halide.

You can add a media basket to all listed above no problem.

Sorry you had to take down you tank. Sometimes life requires hard choices. Was wondering why you hadn't been around much.

Absolutely no experience with nanos... sorry.

well I am sorry to hear about the 75, I did the same thing with my old 75. Now I have a 10 gallon mantis tank. its just a standard 10 with 2 PAR30 LED lights on it. I could keep just about anything in it. I guess it kinda depends on what you want and do you want DIY it or just do an all in one. Good upkeep is the biggest thing with a nano and also water topoffs, cause they evaporate quick.

Not sure I have enough 'experience' to comment on this thread properly yet but I did recently just move a REDSea 130 (35gal) from a lil over half an hour away to home.

    No livestock loss etc.

Everything fit in the back of my Magnum a little tight mind you but it fit. Water and all.

Really love having the Redsea setup here and not a whole lot I can fault it on. Previous owner had it for a little over 3 years.

I feel your pain! I had to take down my reef a few months ago for various reasons. Go get a 10 gallon, a HOB filter, and a mantis shrimp! That's the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.

What a bummer! I thought something happened, haven't seen anything from you. I have a 14 gal. Oceanic BioCube. I like it. I use the media basket in the middle chamber. With stock lights (Compacts) you can keep soft and some LPS. Hope all works out for you.

I had a 14 BC for a few years and LOVED it!!! The number one this is frequent water changes. If you do that - it will prevent most of the problems people have with Nanos.

I used to do 4 gallons/week on my 14 BC and never had any fish losses or illness in that time.

Only problem I ever had was when other people either fed the tank a year's worth of food in a week or turned up the apartment temperature to "low boil".
