Lost our favorite fish today due to this tank crazyness.
Still not sure what caused it. It all started when I added my urchin.
Everything seemed to calm down after QT and losing 3 fish, lots of cleaning, etc. The Urchin has been hanging out in my anthelia for the last few days. My maroon clown hosted the anthelia. This morning she was on the bottom acting odd and had the dust covering her like the others. Within hours she was gone. Put her in a small tank with a piece of her anthelia til she went so she wouldnt be shrimp food. This one upset me and the girlfriend badly. She was like a family member to us.

I will be tearing down the 37 probably, if I can find someone to babysit my inverts and corals.. or even just setting up a small 10 gal with what I have left in the tank until the 125 cycles.

Thanks for all your help... hopefully I do not have to go through this again.

Sorry for your loss. It always sucks when you lose a pet. Our yellow lab who was 14 passed away a month ago, so I know what you mean by the feeling.

I think you hit it when you said it all started when you added the urchin. I never had one because of all the potential problems with them. I don't know if they can carry velvet or not but the urchin does seem to be the key. My standard advice is; If you have a stable, peaceful tank, do not be tempted to add anything else (with the exception of coral, perhaps).

    Sorry for your loss.
I lost my mandarin a few weeks ago, nothing bums me out like losing a favorite fish or coral. for the next few days I wonder what I missed or what I did. Are urchins common carriers of bad things? I thought about getting one, but now I dont know.

Not sure.. i am pretty sure I had an ammonia issue from the burn when I opened the canister filter. Flo did not show signs until after the water had cleared.. and the urchin walked through her anthelia she hosts.. then bam.. signs.. then dead the next day.
I like urchins a lot... but.. just not sure about this one. Otherwise he wasnt a problem.. my hermits knock over more frags than he ever did. He is awesome at cleaning algae and rocks. They do eat coraline like mad though. I am just afraid to put him in the new tank if he has anything.. but the old tank is doing okay now.. blah.. just dont know what to do with tux
