Well, our Pinkbar Goby that was paired with our Tiger Pistol has been missing for 3 days now. We were used to not seeing them for a whole day before, but on the third day we finally started looking for him. And our pistol shrimp has been popping day and night for the whole time. Well, we found him. :(

The little guy went Kami Kazi and jumped out of the tank. I found him behind it next to the sump, completely "potato chipped" on the carpet.

We still don't know what made him do it...he'd have to have jumped pretty stinkin hard to make it out of there. :(:(

The irony is we have 2 other fish that are supposed to be notorious jumpers, and never had a problem with either. This is our first fish that decided to go base jumping too.

And of course the question on our minds is...Now what?

Sorry for the loss jwin........ If I could only count how many critters have found their way out of my past aquariums. Some I've been lucky and tossed back in and like the other day I found another blue/green chromis on the floor. And some just plain dis-appear without a trace. Do you plan on trying to pair up the pistol shrimp again?

My goby!!!!!!! I just want to cry. I don't know what made me get Jwin to look behind the tank....I'm just glad I didn't find him. I'm so sad for my shrimp - he's been popping the last few days. He's looking for his goby, I guess. :bawling:

    Sorry to hear that!
I have lost them as the jumped out of my tank in the past!
Sometimes they get freaked and jump as they are skiddish!
It seems that I have a harder time with fish jumping out as small individuals as oppossed to larger fish!!! I have never had any of my big fish jump out!

I want to try and pair the guy up again. Without a goby, all the shrimp does is make loud pops during the day, and cleans and bulldozes at night. A night shift janitor with no one to talk to.

We may go with our original plan of using a Yellow Watchman? This Pinkbar was a pretty skittish dude. He always shot inside his hole when you got too close to him. We'll see what happens.

Of course, the most expensive fish WOULD be the one to jump out and die. Typical, Murphy's Law at it again.
