Hey guys so had my ro/di system up for less then 6 months and the filters are already clogged. I believe what is happening is that when my float valve shuts off the clean water, all the water just by passes the clean output but continues to go through the filter. So their is water just running through the system 24/7. Any way i can prevent this? or do i just need to shut off the water supply after my bucket is filled? and where can i get new filters for cheap?

this is the system i have, with a float valve i purchased from them.

150 GPD 6st Reverse Osmosis RO DI Water Filters system | eBay

Should i just replace all the filters? and then just shut off after my bucket is full? and do i need the DI? or is just the reverse osmosis sufficient?

I can't be much help, sorry. I turn the water off to my system after my containers are full. My waste water isn't connected to a drain so I can't keep my system running 24/7. I got my unit from BRS that has a flush valve. I believe that is suppose to prolong the filters life.

That wouldnt be the case. If there is no purified water coming out of the unit no waste water should either. But there are alot of variables that go into water purification. What is the TDS coming out of your unit?

Well the whole reason you want a RO-DI unit is to cut down on TDS levels. Meaning total dissolved solids. You will need a TDS meter to test those levels. Its essential to having pure water. There is actually alot to no RO-DI units, they are not plug and play water purification solutions. Hopefully AZdesertrat chimes in. He helps everyone around here with RO-DI questions.

Wow. I need you to test your waters TDS to see whats going into that filter. You should be.able to cut supply to the RODI unit from where its tapped in.

Go to a LFS and ask for a TDS meter.
