I am thinking about buying a ro/di unit. I want to buy a good one I have a 29 gallon and a 120 gallon salt tanks and several fresh water tanks up to 200 gallons. So what I am asking for is advice on which one to buy and why I would want that one verse a different one. Thank you.

I would agree, but from what i have spectra pure can be expensive. I have a ro/di unit from BRS (Bulk reef supply) and i love it. It wasn't too hard on the wallet either.

I will follow this thread seeing as I need to purchase a RO or RO/DI unit myself once I get settled into my new place.

I had a pure water club ( for sale on here ATM) and it was awesome for the price, and definetly recommend them if you are on a budget. But if you want the best I highly recommend the spectrapure, it has been stellar for me so far.

Spectra pure if you can afford it. A decent system will run you 300 bux. I went with this unit 75 GPD RO/DI 5 Stage *PLUS* System - English I got 20 bucks off because of doing a group buy with fellow 3reefers. It was the best thing ive bought for my tank by far. My water is 0 tds all day. I would highly recommend it.

Ok, not to sound to stupid and I know that I would research this, but what is TDS. I see people on here all the time posting that people need to check this when referring to their RO/DI units.

    Total dissolved solids

""Dissolved solids" refer to any minerals, salts, metals, cations or anions dissolved in water. This includes anything present in water other than the pure water (H20) molecule and suspended solids. (Suspended solids are any particles/substances that are neither dissolved nor settled in the water, such as wood pulp.)"

+1 You should definitely get a unit with this on it to see how your unit is performing. A hand held one does wonders too, but I like the one built in the system.
