Ok I just got my Mighty Mite RO/DI unit. I am going to hook it up but I wasn't sure if I could run bit of warm water to not have the new water so cold. If i should just use cold water how do you raise the temp of the water? Or is it ok to add cold water?

you do not want to run warm water through the ro/di unit , it's not good for the membrane.
you could get a tank heater and warm the water that way. it would depend on how much water you are going to add.
I make up my water a few days in advance so the water I add is close to room temp.

I use a heater. If u don't have a second heater use the one in your tank.

Cold water will not do anything but cause the membrane pores to restrict more lowering the output a little but will increase the rejection rate giving you better product water warmer water will offer more water out but less rejection and lesser quality output water, The optimum temp is 72 ish for max flow and rejection and out put they say ?? I don't micro manage that much My inlet water here in Ct is now at 40F It is what it is in the summer it gets in to high 70's low 80's again it is what it is . I always have plenty of water in the sump and holding barrel..

I wanted to thank everyone for there input. I hooked the RO/DI unit and ran 10 gallons thru it already. I kept the last 5 gallons and put the lid on the bucket. I have a small tank so only need about 5 gallons a week for water changes. Thanks again everyone.

Oh OT has anyone used the filtered water for coffee? Does it taste better?

Just make sure it's not from the DI output. You shouldn't drink DI water.

There's a lot of people who use rubbermaid trashcans and bubblerocks for water storage. Add a heater and you can keep that at reef temp. Mix it up a day or two in advance, and keep some on hand for cookoff.

As long as there is current in it, a long time.. I'd keep a powerhead in it to move the water around..
