Yes If the waste from the R/O has any effect at all on the D/I outlet then you have somthing wrong.. I'm no expert but after 40 yrs of setting up commercial filtration system's as a mechanical contractor I no hot on the left and cold on the right and if you want to send waste up a hill it cost more :)

I'm on city water and the hardness is 7.7 dKH out of the tap. My membrane is a 75gpd, and I'm flying through DI refills. What can I do to prevent mineral build-up or calcium?

I my unit is running straight into a collection bucket. I do not have a float valve or a pressure tank (i wish i did it would save me from manually filling a water pitcher). I do have an auto top off but it is not hooked up to my RO/DI unit.

    Thanks for the feed back,
    Dustin

Do you have a water softener? That's what removes hardness from the water going into your unit. Because you're on city water, you don't have to worry about minerals. Does your city add chlorine or chloromines to your water?

Ok. Then do you have a catalytic carbon cartridge on your unit as a pre-filter?If you do, then I would look inot getting a water softener. The softer the water, the better it is for the RO.

If not, you should think about getting one. Here is a link:

I have a typoon III which I purchased from you last year. Do you think I still need to get a catalytic carbon cartridge or is the filter set-up I have ok? Same filter arrangement that was sent with the unit, replaced filters 6 months ago. If I take out the membrane can I visually tell if it is bad? If it is bad can I switch to the 150gpd membrane, you sell, my water pressure is 65psi.

Yes, I checked the membrane out last night still looks ok. I think that I'm going to order some new prefilters tonight after work, my 10m filter is already looking gross, yellow-orange.

    Thanks again,
    Dustin
