Good luck on your test!!! I remember I was a nervous wreck, but once we started going it got easier. Just keep both hands on the wheel at all times and make sure to check your mirrors and blind spot!!

Anyways my advice is to just follow the rules of the road and do it by the textbook. Complete stops. Turn signals. Etc etc etc.

Thankfully I took driver's ed, and if the instructor "feels that you're ready", they can choose to road test you instead of you getting tested elsewhere by a stranger in a strange car. Out of my class, my instructor only roadtested 3 or 4 people, including me :) I beasted that road test. w00t w00t.

Also, with the speed limit, I'd drive at or 5 below the speed limit. If you drive too slow, the instructor may feel that you're not ready for the road. Also, driving for an extended period of time at more than 10 mph below the limit can get you a ticket because it seriously slows down traffic around you. So you can indeed get a "speeding" ticket for that if you do it for a certain length of time.

Oh, and what Kacy said (the girl with the weird dogs...yeah that one). Physically turn your head and check ALL mirrors and both blind spots. You'll get points taken off if you don't.

I took my driving instructor to a nice lunch at J. Alexanders at the end of our test and for some reason got a 100.. not kidding.. but really I was a very experienced driver, grew up going to our ranch every weekend and the parents let us all drive out there starting young.

Dont be nervous, and be respectful to the proctor. Say yes instead of "yeah", ect.. it goes a long way. Oh and dress decently, it shows respect and maturity.

As it turns out, if you just go with a cop that works in the area of the DMV, you're likely to get a license as long as you don't hit anything.
