Not sure what lace rock is to be honest Undertaking 125

if its out of someones tank, you may or may not be inheriting problems (algaes, etc)
so leaving it out in the sun for a couple of weeks after the hose down may be a good idea

It's pretty much tufa, steve. Usually sedimentary limestone, sometimes inert volcanic rock.

Now, if it's a FOWLR, you probably don't need to worry about trace copper or anything like that. Since it was in your friends tank, it's probably ok to use. You may want to do what steve suggested, and let it dry out, to kill any hitchhikers on it, but that's a personal choice.

You could bake it in an oven also. Doing this a few times should kill off anything on it and you won't have to wait a couple weeks before using it.
