So about a week and a half ago noticed a little bit of my blue maxima clams mantle missing. Thought maybe my tiger trigger was responsible...even though he never bothered it...looked at my clam this morning and it looked ok, came down to feed the fish and my emerald crab was perched on top of my clam that was on its side and just about everything to the clam was eaten....crab banished to my sump...hope I didn't punish the innocent

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have never had any issues with Emeralds and Clams, or Emeralds in general. I know others have had issue with them eating corals.

Like most members of the CUC they can sense a dead or dying invert and are usually just cleaning up. My money is on the Trigger.

Usually it is after things on the corals not the coral itself.

I recently had a stone crab that was stealing food from one of my frags and must have damaged part of it's tissue in the process. I have since given the crab to the LFS.

I had to banish an emerald to the fuge for the same reason. My newly added clam kept retracting and after careful observation I watched him pinching the mantle...

My emerald crab of 3 days use to hide by my clam till the Pistol shrimp killed him and used his body for a hole plug. :(

But in the past I never had an issue with them eating corals (that I know of anyway)
