    DAY 2: NOTHING NEW

well last night i drained the vinegar water and did some scrubbing nothing on the sump because it is in the stand and i couldn't get my long scraper down there but but i got about 80% off the display

after i filled up with water again and added about a regular plastic cup of bleach and it's running again here's the pix

notice how much cleaner the DT is:

now i know the water is still nasty and there's still some sand but everytime i drain it gets better... tonight when i get home i will be draining again more cleaning and scrubbing hopefully get more of the sand out soak the overflow in vinager water as well as the mag9

i did a power outage scenario and we did not over flow so that's good news... so day two cleaner than day 1 and more cleaning in store..

    thanks for watching

DAY 3, SCREW THE CHRISTMAS TREE!

lol day 3 was yesterday and i am very close to having this tank cleaned and ready..

cowboys squeeked by the browns yesterday (sunday) so we're one game behind the giants even tho this has absolutley nothing to do with the tank..

my wife wanted to put up the christmas tree but I told her we'll do it later while i'm on thanksgiving break from work (which is not that much anyway)

so the youtube page has a couple updates on it (day 2 and 3) sorry they're so short i'm mainly doing this to get a little more expeirence on youtube as well as log my progress and thoughts

i'm pretty sure that i have figured out the sump i will be using the 12 deep (front to back) even though it only has one inlet i don't think it will hurt to just dump two in there or make 2 to 1 and have it going to one.. not sure yet and of coarse suggestions are welcome in that area.. here's a pic of the sump/refugium i'm talking about
    [IMG]

i also think i have figured out a lighting option even tho no one has written back in the led lighting section on this forum... (weird) i guess i'm going to use the reefbreeders "value" led lighting reefbreeders value

i'm assuming that two of these would be sufficiant 120 watts each? i don't know my tank is only 18" deep so i don't think there would be a problem. i'm mainly trying to keep the cost down (besides DIY, i'm horrible with wires and electrical) but it sounds like a good system.

if it's not please chime in and stop me from making a 199.00 x2 $$$mistake if there is a better option let me know

anyway check out the new you tube videos and i will have some new pix tomorrow after i scrub the overflow and set it all back up with water again just for some rinsing and so i don't have to stare at an empty tank.

my youtube channel is up to 3 subscribers yay! so thanks to you guys for that

DAY 4: THE TANKS ON THE FLOOR

My cousin was kind enough to come over and help me get the tank off the stand and the "sump" out of the cabinet it was a PITA. (the sump not the tank)

I'm pretty sure the previous owner built the stand around the sump. Had to cut notches out of one of the top support braces of the stand in order to get it out. we had to stand the sump up so i'm thinking since it was such a tight squeeze i might not purchase a sump/refugium just try to modify this tank he was using as a sump

short video update will be up soon.

DAY 5 AND 6: A FEW MORE PIX

well I started the sump refugium build and got my wife to help priming the stand

tip: wear rubber gloves when working with silicone

i hope that i put enough so far there are no leaks and i'm not sure if i made the deviders enough of a hieght differance but it holds water and flows right on the test with the water hose so we will see...

honestly i'll be happy if it just flows and has a refugium that's all i really need but it does look decent
