    Hey all,

My nem last week closed up and hasn't opened back up since. He has since slowly started turning white all over. He is now partially opened, but not all the way. Have been in salt for awhile now but new too nems. Is he dying? Should I get him out of the tank now?

    Thanks for your help.

    Can you post a pic?

    Is it a new anemone?

    How old is this tank?

    What are your parameters?

    What kind of lighting?

Looks like the anemone is loosing it's zooxanthellae from stress.

I would look like at light first, I am not familiar with that LED fixture. I am inclined to think slow bleach means insufficient lighting of tank, number of fixtures......how far away from the tank....?

Are you providing any supplemental feedings?

    Coralline,

It's a reefbreeders 16. Have 2 of them 10" above my 75 gallon tank. Should I try and move him somewhere else in the tank? I target feed the nem every other week. Mysis and krill.

    Thanks

I am sorry, but I do know enough about LED to make suggestions regarding the fixture.

Moving anemones is a bad intervention unless they are in immediate need of rescue from a power head, over flow. Anemones tend to go where the conditions are most ideal on their own. Moving them causes more stress than good.

Water quality is fine, anemone has declined slowly over an extended period of time. No larger clown is residing in it and stressing the anemone?

This makes me think lighting and you need to get opinions from hobbyist that actually use that fixture and actually keep anemones under it.

Thanks for the info Coralline. Greatly appreciated

No clown. We have a tamato, but he stays in our other anemone which is doing fine.
