There is no way an emerald crab killed it. Ive had many of them and never seen them kill anything. Just scavenge. It was already dead.

There is no way an emerald caught a healthy, fully awake goby IMO.

Mine cant even grab the the seaweed placed right in front of them, they are dumb, clumsy, and have terrible motor skills.

Never in a million years,unless...he was a 12"emerald.I would imagine in both cases the crab was just eating on the dead fish.I"ve had emeralds in every sw tank i've ever owned an allthough they can be little jerks,i've never found them guilty of killing anything.

Sorry bout your firefish though, they're one of my favs too.

    Here's my experience.
Had Goby's for months, no deaths.
Got emerald crabs to eat algae.
Once algae was gone, gobies disappeared. Params were good.
Bought more goby's, they vanished very quickly.
Fearing it was the emerald crabs, I moved them to my sump.
Bought more goby's. They lived and are still alive.
Emerald crabs destroyed my chaeto, caused more algae in display. Brought them back to the fish store.

I agree that it is doubtful an emerald caught a fish. I had a sally lightfoot that caught many fish, but my emeralds left everyone alone.
