I switched from a no name brand of Marine Snow to Kent's Phyto-Plankton. Since the switch my Feather Duster has'nt came out all the way and does'nt spin any more. Would he just be getting used to the new food or could something be wrong?
    Is phyto for Duster's also?
I am under the impression that all filter food is suitable for all filter feeder's.....

My duster went in and did not see him for 3 days--thought he was dead or shot out of the tube and was hiding--then he came out the other end--wierd--since then he came back out the top--I feed with Kent Micro-Vert 1 cap 3 times a week--very healthy worm!

Most foods offered don't come in a small enough size for feather dusters to eat. How are you feeding it? What type substrate do you have? What kind?

Ok Mission, I know nothing about Duster's except they are filter feeder's so I put the phyto in the water with my powerfilter and skimmer off for about two hour's every other day. My Substrate is CC THe kind of Duster I have no idea. I am going by what the LFS told me to do. Am I missing something with the duster feeding program? IT seemed really active with the marine snow but has slowed down for a day and now seems okay again.

Dusters eat from the bottom side of their crown. Alot of times found in the substrate where microfauna is abundant. They eat as nutrients rise from the sandbed. I believe they starve because they filter out/eat only the smaller food items. I'll try and find the article where I read this stuff.

So Marine Snow and Phyto and Zoo is not a part of the Duster diet?

I would say the first two target fed to the underside of the crown.

Interesting, I really know nothing of dusters. I had one appear in my tank shortly before I moved. It's since reappeared on the same rock in my tank and appears to have grown a bit. Kind of white / orangish red in color. I haven't fed it anything.

Good luck with the duster, they're strange but cool little creatures.
