i love the look of the saddleback clownfish, but am very new to sw....my intent is to purchase one about 2-3 months from now, but have never seen one in my lfs....i was wondering if they are any harder to keep than other types of clowns, what type of anemone they take to, and if anyone has a good suggestion where i might order the fish and anemone from (healthy and reasonably priced)

I have a pair of black saddlebacks with no anemone. I will NOT ever get a anemone unless I get rid of all my corals. They are no harder to keep then any other clown. They have found their way to hosting my torch.

Saddleback clowns are they same as any false percs, they are just a color morph.
An anemone should not be added till the tank is near one year old, and you get a lot of experience as a keeper. IMHO they have no place in a community reef tank.

i have no particular attachment to the idea of an anemone. I just want happy fish and assumed clowns needed anemones or somethin simliar and i will be waitin a year beore adding coral...will the fish be fine without anything to like that to hide in

The fish will be fine without one. They only need them in the wild. And you don't have to wait a year before adding coral.

I have had clowns for years without anemone. You don't need them at all. Most clowns in the industry are breed in captivity and have never even seen an anemone. People on 3reef have them hosting all kinds of things other then anemone's. Even with an anemone nothing says they will host that.

I have Black Ocellaris clowns in one of my tanks and love them.

My clowns made a little cave under a rock. They love it there and are getting big and starting to mate. I assume that means they are happy.
