i am having trouble with my dsb not working, (you may have see the post in sand fourm) i dont know for sure what is the underlying problum but im trying to rule them out so here goes.

what fish/inverts do i have in the dsb that are killng the bugs off. i have the following

    royal gama
    firefish goby
    bi color angle
    six line wrasse
    fairy wrasse
    nassiri snails
    long spine urchin.
    thinline hermit

my tank has a partician in it so nothing can get the return pump area, even in that area i rearly see a bristle worm or a pod, thou the sphigiti worms seem good, but they dont go down into the bed. i would think the wrasse's would eat the worms/pods that come up to the surface, but dont bristle worms hide under the LR, so they should still be repopulating and i should see them up against the glass after waiting a year. your thought please.

Sixlines are very good at hunting for pods, though I don't believe they eat bristle worms.

I've been reefing for 2 years now and I think I've seen maybe 1 bristleworm the entire time- some people have a lot and others have few. It all depends if you had them in your live rock.

As far as the DSB goes, those critters shouldn't affect it to my knowledge. The reason is that it is bacteria that breaks down nitrates. The DSB creates a zone where there is no oxygen and that is where the anaerobic bacteria lives and breaks down nitrates.

Have you stirred yours up at all? Either on purpose or accidentally?

It takes a while for the DSB to settle in and have a sufficient population to do its job. You also need to provide it help by doing regular water changes and making sure that all detritus is removed.
