i spent the past couple of days at the Outer Banks, N.C. and at night me and my friend would walk and see crabs everywhere. we finally decided to catch one it turned out they were Sally Light Foot crabs. i was wondering if they are reef safe and ok for me to just pick one up off the beach and put it in my tank. i've only got live rock, lots of algae, and some hitch-hiking snails that i dont care about. would the crabs be ok?

I got one in my tank, never seen it since. they hide and can be aggressive towards small fish when they get bigger.. its a ok if u know the risk. cool crab though.

the body is only 1/2" across and the fish that i want only get about 3" big but will start out at 2" is that too small for an adult crab? and im guessing they are reef safe then?

I think the bright orange ones are like in the galapogos lol.

I'm thinking you could have miss identified the the markings, did you actually catch one for close examination?

I would like that. I really want to see them.

although if they are white they are probably different.
