salt disolve rate

    When is it a safe bet that all the salt is dissolved to get a good SG reading

    That is a great question...I do not have the answer, but I have made 40 gallons of salt in a few hours for my tank with no problems, I use a potable container with a small pump and heater at the bottom.

    Without sounding like an idiot I will say I am changing water on a 200g tank so you may want to be a bit more scientific on a smaller body of water

    Yea true im talking about a s,all amount between 5 and 10 gallons

    Its really easy, use 500 grams salt to 5 gallons, you will need to add more as it mixes...I have found 660 makes about 1.025. You can buy a very small pump for less than 30 bucks and even say dont heat it now as your tank is probably hot with summer in full effect. Also make sure to use RO/DI water, tap carries chemicals.

    it really doesnt take long at all, 10-15 minutes of constant stirring and youll be good to go, however, if you can, let the mixed saltwater sit over night with a small powerhead in it to stable out in pH, to ensure teh best results.
