    I have a really simple one i was unable to google. I just bought a tank off of ebay. we picked it up, no leaks, but how do i go about sanitizing it? Does it even matter?

    If the glass appears clean, use some Windex or the like. Just don't let it pool, and although it's probably not necessary to say, make sure all surfaces have completely dried before adding water.

    If the glass appears dirty, try CLR, if that does it, follow with ammonia-based glass cleaner as above. Other than that, you should be OK.

    I don't know what your glass looks like, but worst case-scenario you might need to scrape with a razor blade.

    Ok i just wasen't sure what sort of organisms i may need to kill off but you surprised me with the windex. Thanks!

    Doesn't matter the kingdom, phyla, class, order, family, genus, species. All organisms need water and oxygen. On the other side of that coin, almost all organisms are killed by ammonia. If the surface is dry and clean, there's really no chance of your tank being in jeopardy.

    Hence the "appears clean" statement above. If you don't see anything on the glass, chances are you're golden.
