    Hi all,

I have a 55 gal tank and i want to keep a small school fish group (5-6) but i don't know what species i should get. I want peaceful school fish unlike damsels or chromis. Thank you! :)

chromis is probably the only schooling fish you can keep in a 55 gallon, i have a small group of 3, started with 6 of them but they always tend to eliminate to a odd number, and mine is 3, some people have 5,7 or 9.. so depending on how many you want, you probably want to buy 1-2 extra

Green Chromis are as peaceful as it gets with damsels and they only become a LITTLE agressive when they mate / lay eggs but it lasts a short while - These would be my choice or a blue reef chromis to change it up a little.

I've had 3 blue/green chromis and they only really school when they are scared, besides that, they tend to just go off on their own. So I wouldn't bet on the fact that they will school all of the time

Should have added that I have 10 and they school all the time except when they get ready to mate and have eggs in the tank!

Do you have any other fish in the tank now? If you don't have too many fish already and if the fish you have aren't aggressive, you could try a small school of anthias, provided you'd be willing to meet their feeding requirements.
