so what i gather is that you had the scooter in a 8g fluval for 8 months then upgraded to a 60g that was a month old. i suspect that the scooter lived in your 8g but was merely surviving and not thriving. being a dragonette their main diet are pods and it likely decimated the population putting it into stress. the move couldn't be any more stressfull for the fish and i really doubt that a 1month old 60g had enough pods to help him recover. lets hope im wrong and he's is just hiding. keep your fingers crossed

Scouters Home! I think he must have been out partying for New Years and decided to come out and eat. I know there are suppose to eat pods but this one will eat out of my hand. He ate a total diet of frozen herb until I got him and I would give him brine shrimp to get him to come eat with the other two fish I had then I got him to eat the herb diet too. I'm sure he eats the other stuff out of the sand he is suppose to but this morning he is back to his old self and ate brine shrimp right out of my hand. I have my damsel and clown doing it too. The pair of cardinals don't get that close they move away fast when I put my hand in the water but I think they will learn. So go ahead someone and tell me how I am hurting them by letting them eat out of my hand thats fine. I'm just glad my little buddy is home and eating.

The tank cycled for three weeks prior to putting them in and yes I think it has more pods, we think that is why we didn't see him he is getting more natural food. My friend who I met at the saltwater store that is like a young saltwater encyclopedia says I will see him less as he gets more natural food. I do need more live rock. This aquarium is a cube and I need to work on building it up.

I made the mistake of listening to the LFS when they told me it was OK to put a scooter in a tank that wasn't mature enough. It really needs a tank that's been up and running for many months for their to be enough food in the substrate/rocks. Mine is still holding on and it does eat frozen brine shrimp, but it's not in the best environment right now.

Usually scooters are quite active as they rummage for food so it's odd that he's not visible.
