    LFS will put a skimmer on a tank just to sell em. Foolin you that if they use one on their tank, it must be good.

    They truly are very poor skimmers. I had one on my first tank and it was a nightmare.

    My LFS also only stocks SeaClone skimmers. I'm planning on ordering a Reef Octopus for my 75gal.

    I had a Seaclone 100 HOB skimmer and mine worked very well from day one. I know that some have had issues with this skimmer but as time goes on it seems to be getting better. This skimmer was used on my 29g reef tank for more than a year. Once i got it zeroed in it was fantastic and kept my tank running beautifully. This was also a tank where water changes were not done.

    It's not unusual for 1 out of a dozen to work properly, regardless how poorly they're designed. :D

    As for me, my tank done better with no skimmer at all. The only time the sea clown collected anything was when it had a layer of crud around the top of the chamber, and oddly enough, that's also the only time I had serious problems with GHA and cyano. I also had the same issue with the venturi clogging periodically.

    yeah i had one two that i modded and got so so performance .. the only good thing about them is they used a maxi jet pump which is a pretty descent power head..

    however since i have used a few skimmers in my life time...
    i would have to admit its not effecient or thier are others that will pull alot more gunk out of your tank.....

    i run a hurricone cat 3 and its been my favorite skimmer ever... this think looks like a white milk shake... of course it hold just 12 gallon in the reaction chamber..
    but it is a skimming machine..

    i have used euro reef.. i like them for the most part ...
    reef octopus.. not bad in my opinion
    ee shops those are nice ... very quiet...and very cheap in my opinion
    aqua c remora... that was descent but not as good as the euro reefs and the hurricone
