Would a flasher be OK in this tank? I really love the coloration.

I have about 12" if swimming height above the rock in the tank. It would be the only open-water swimmer. The clingfish should stick more closely to rocks/corals.

That is a good question about the wrasse. I know mine swims all over my 40 breeder, but he swims in and out of the rock work. I'm not sure how much "open" room they need.

    Removing the old return line.

The new one fits with room to spare! How cool is that? ...no measuring. :p

    The finished reactor.

    The top lid is a 1 1/4" union, with a 1 1/4" x 12/" bushing attached.

The bottom end also using a bushing in the same size. I used plastic mesh as screen to keep the pellets within the reactor chamber.

    Gluing in the plastic mesh.

    Looking down the reactor.

    Lastly, add pellets!

    Thank you. :)

The vacuum siphon I used for the reactor chamber was not quite 1 1/4" diameter. The plumbing is 1 1/4" PVC, so there was a small gap I filled with super glue gel. It should work once I put some silicone on the edge of the union to seal it.

But to anyone else building this design, I would recommend buying 1 1/4" clear acrylic tubing from your hardware store. I hadn't thought of doing that when I put mine together. I don't recall how much it costs, but I assume it would be equal to or around the same cost of buying the vacuum ($13).

Return line is finally fixed and running. It's much quieter with he 1/2" line. :)

Reactor is fixed and installed. I will turn the ball valve on it, this evening to start running it.

My King Midas zoas have been closed for a few days. :( Some of the polyps look as if they have glue on thee ends? I don't know what it is. I'd post a photo of them, but the camera isn't charged right now.

My birdnests are getting STN. Ugh.

How long should this last me?
