I have found some of my nerite snails on the floor behind my fish stand quite often actually. They are usually on their backs, and I have no idea how long they have been out of the tank. I just drop them in from the top and they always do just fine lol.

200 views and 1 comment? What's up with ya guys? hahaha

I replaced the bulbs over my tank. The far left and right bulbs were a 15w full spectrum and (I want to say) 25w daylight/art drawing bulb.

I replaced them both with 6500K 100w equivalents, which match the middle one. I think they each put out about 1500 lumens. I figured this should give me better coralline growth and less nuisance algae. I like the much whiter look, apposed to what it was before. You can sort of see the difference here...the photo just looks more washed out. lol.

Anyone going to MMC? Look for the guy with long brown hairm wearing the Marine Depot T.

The other day I heard my outlet making a crackling sound. It turns out some how bit of SW had dripped into the outlet. I cleaned it off and everything is OK though.

That reminds me...if I come home with livestock (which may be likely) how should I prepare to bring it home in the car? I have a cooler I can use...but I don't have a battery power air pump. Any ideas?

Or should I just put any bags of water/livestock into the cooler next to each other?

Also, will I need heat packs for the car ride home? It's been the 40-50 degrees lately. 2.5-3hr drive home from the conference.

Can I have a gorgonia in my tank? I've been wanting one for some time now. It's an NPS coral, and I have relatively low nitrites (holding steady b/w 3 - 5ppm).

If it were me, I would just drive home with them. I always figure that the livestock gets shipped from somewhere to the supplier anyways and are in bags for sometimes at least 24 hours at a time. Have fun! :)

I just wanted to make sure that you are talking about nitrates and not nitrites.

At 40 - 50F, you'll most likely be using your car heater. :p
