I toss my filter socks (felt kind) in the laundry washer with a little bit of bleach. Dry it, rinse a couple times with RODI and dry it again. Never had a problem so far..

Half cup or so. Before you use it, smell it. I even snuggle my nose into the sock make sure there is no chlorine left on it.

OK. How do I get rid of all the bleach? Do another wash with just water?

Can I try running the pump again, until I get a new impeller?

Sure, you can run the washer without bleach. Any tap water has tiny amount of chlorine in it (but we all know that). If you leave it long enough, the chlorine smell disappears on its own. Its always good to extra rinse it with RODI and dry it. I was nervous too after I saw Mr Saltwatertank video saying that he used bleach. If you take a good sniff, you will smell it if its there.

I stick my filter socks in the dishwasher. Then I let them air dry outside if the weather permits. I like the dishwasher cause I can put them in there standing up straight and they get blasted by nearly boiling water from all angles with no detergent. Some times if they are super dark I have added a couple table spoons of bleach to the bottom of the dishwasher before I start the cycle, they come out white as when I first got them. And for some reason I get better evaporation of the bleach (smell etc) when I dry them outside in the sun. Hope that's helpful as well :). So now you have to great ways to clean those nasty socks!! ;)

No dishwasher in my house. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try the washer and let it air dry.

You snuggle with your filter socks exactly? Haha. :p

Im sorry to hear about your impeller issue man. When is the new part getting shipped in? I would be hesitant to run it with only two of the impeller blades. But thats just me. Hopefully someone else will chime in with their opinion too.
