Actually, I am not sure how well an ATO would work when I am wet-skimming. I think I will just run a pump on a timer of some kind.

Tank is pretty noisy now with the return pump running again. I don't like it.

Seano - I would be very cautious doing this. There is no realistic way to predict what level of evaporation will occur. My tank will evaporate between one and two gallons in a three day period depending on the air temp and humidity.

AND an ATO would replenish the water taken away by the wet skim and maintain the tank salinity at a more stable level.

But when wet-skimming, you are removing some of the salinity. So wouldn't a top-off lower the salinity level (not sure over what period of time it would take to do this) in this case?

That is what I would think as well.

Your right seano, it does and will. But the change isnt that much, unless you have a HUGE skimmer and its skimming very very very wet. Youll be straight with your plan of action.

record the change.. itll give you a baseline on the salinity. Although it will be skewed due to normal evap. But with those 2 going on it wont be a huge swing. Over time it may be but till the next water change, youll be fine.

It will be approximate, which I guess is better than what I do now.

...pouring about 1/3 - 1/2g in the tank each evening. lol. ::)
