I've heard anywhere between .025 and .029 is fine as long as it doesn't drastically swing between the two.

OK. Well, it seems to be swinging that much in about 24 hours.

Close enough. :) It really depends on the area of the ocean. But generally, it is 1.024(low end) to 1.029. I try to keep the happy medium.

Obviously it would be even lower levels in estuaries.

I only have one extra pump. I use it for mixing salt.

Maybe I can switch over to a pump-fed one when I get the biopellets (whenever that is) so I can save on shipping. haha

    I keep mine around 1.025-1.026

I feel like the extra salinity in the water provides a higher abundance in trace elements and minerals. Not a biologist this is just what I assume.

So I finally seem to have fixed the long problem with my sump (water level not high enough for skimmer). I cut a piece of 1/8" acrylic and siliconed it (surface side of course, not on end) to the glass baffle. My skimmer seems to be running ok in the sump now. The display looks so nice with only the powerheads in it! :D

My water temperature is 75.7* F. :-/ I do not know why. The temp. censor to the controller is not exposed to air...the heater(150w fluval) is running in the sump (yes, the return pump is on)....

I don't think your Fluval is supposed to be fully submersed FYI, if its the M series an it shouldn't be.

It is the M series. My sister has the same heater (50w version for her 10g FW tank). I didn't think it could be submersed fully. She looked into it and apparently the water level line' as seen on the heater, was put on it to meet guidelines in Australia. But it can be fully submerged.

...checking reviews of the heater to see if they mention it at all.
