Quite true...but have you ever seen the size of a decent NFL linebacker? It's unhuman!! They're huge!!

Hockey is awesome...but so is football. Living in upstate NY, I get enough of both!! Which is fine in my book!!

    hehe Go Devils!!

Dude just seeing linebackers and linemen on campus here is creepy. There's no way that's healthy.

I have played both through high school (hockey through college) and I can tell you hockey hurts a lot more ;)
Sure, linemen are big. But at that size not much bigger than a big hockey player. Whats a big lineman, 325-350 pounds or so? Just on the Sharks, they have a defensemen weighing in at 265. Now, when that 325 pound linemen hit you, they are going at about 8mph. When that 265 pound defensemen hits you, he is traveling at 30-35mph ;) I'll let the math wizards figure out the kinetic energy in that one. Plus with hockey players wearing half the padding, and basically playing on concrete, it's no contest.
And greatest of all, in hockey when you get in to a good brawl, they give you a 5 minute breather so you can do it again. Not kick you out and/or suspend you ;)

The fights are half the fun  I could calculate the kinetic energy...but I don't want to. I'll just go ahead and say that a hockey player in that situation has alot more. With less pads, meaning less protection to absorb that energy. And as pack said, you're pretty much playing on (almost) frictionless marble or whatever stone you want.

Getting hit by a football is almost nothing. But a hockey puck...have you held one of those things before? Yikes!

I used to live at Fort Campell, Ky. Its about an hour from nashville and preditors games are awsome. They have cheerleaders that run threw the stands and dance. Plus the fans are nuts and always sold out. Not to mention 2nd, 3rd, and broadway. 3 streets lined with nothing but bars and clubs and they are within walking distance from the stadium.

Now the kings have the ice girls. There are about 20 beutiful women come out during comercial breaks and clean the ice. Most can't skate very well. But its fun watching hot women skate around in a bikini top and booty shorts ;)

Well the Predators scraped a win in our season opener. Hmmm...looks like I'll have to go up to a game sometime soon. And yes, Preds fans are completely whacko.

I live in the Bay Area, sharks have been my #2 team... but last year they got the asst head coach from my #1 team. And if you recall last year the sharks won their first presidents trophy. I think the sharks will go alot further this year, if they continue with the intensity that they had in last nights game it will solve alot of their problems that have always plagued them through the Playoffs.

Alot of good people are gone this year JR, grier, Milan come to mind... but under new leadership with some oldbies it'll help the cause IMHO.

BTW Pack I've been playing for about 13 years now, and your right when you hit someone @ full steam and your 225 - 250 and land on something as hard as concrete its painful. The only benefit I can see about hitting the ice... is well your already icing your injury while your laying there :)

Well my #2 team can beat your #2 team. lol I went to the kings game tonight and it was awesome. I haft to give it to the sharks thow, there PP was on point. 4 straight PP goals to come back from 4-0. But the kings #3 goal was sick. flip pass to the center from the right circle and batted out of the air and in. I was scared for awhile there, they made a great effort to come back. But the kings got all the luck tonight. The winning goal was a lucky shot from behind the goal line, off the net minders pad and in. But it was fun watching the sharks fans next to us after that. I handed one of them a napkin because I thought his jaw just about hit the floor. lol The kings looked a bit shaky for awhile, alot of dangeris turn overs in front. But they pulled threw. I am going to the game on thursday and I am stoked.

I have had the worst start to the season I ever could have expected.

I'm a leaf fan, and we are 0-2-1 as of right now. Not a good way to kick off what was supposed to be a promising season.

We lost a game to montreal in overtime we should have won, we got destroyed by the washington caps, and then last night lost to the senators.

One goal was clearly a high stick and should have been disallowed, the other a penalty shot, where they gave the other team a penalty shot, and still put us in the box for two minutes ... unprecedented.

So needless to say its been a horrible start, hopefully things will start looking up soon ... or its going to be long season.
