I have a white sebae anemone and I know that white is not the best choice. My question is sometimes the anemone has thick tenticles and sometimes they are more stringy. I was wondering if this is normal. My parameters are correct for nitrate, nitrite, ph, and ammonia. Also my salinity is 1.024 which i have read is reccommended for anemones. Any help would be great.

how long have you had the anemone. I don't like telling people this but there's no such thing as a healthy "white" sebae. The sebae has lost all of it's zooxanthella sp. and that's why it's white. This is usually due to lack of good light while being held by wholesalers and your lfs. Once they turn completely white, there's usually no turning back. I would recommend feeding this anemone quite heavily and try to get some color into it. Most healthy sebaes are a yellowish brown in color.

I was looking at your tank upgrade and can't tell what kind of lighting you have. That may be one of your problems.

the fact that's it's white is not really a good sign, it usually means it's not doing well. Seabaes are normally brownish yellow, tan or tan with purple tips. It actually is a more difficult anemone to care for due to that it needs to acclimate properly, which can be difficult, or it will not do well. It requires a lot of light and rock and sand areas so that it can choose where it wants to live. It is considered a difficult creature to keep, and usually left to the experts.

I found out after I bought the anemone that it is not healthy white. I have had it for at least a month under a 40 watt power compact and then moved up to a 2x65 watt power compact. It did fine under the 40 watt with no ill effects. I have a cube of mysis shrimp thawing out right now. any other foods i can feed it to change up its meals in hopes it will survive this?

feed it frozen silversides. They are very nutritious sp? I would do like half a silver side every other day for a while. When you are doing this, you need to turn skimmer up a bit and do some extra water changes because the thing will be pooping. If it is still sticky to the touch, there is hope for it. Also, the 2 x 65 should be fine in that short of a tank.

I just moved everything from a 10 gallon to the 20 long yesterday. the 10 gallon was up around 6 months with no ill effects besides the usual algae breakout.

I noticed in your upgrade thread that the anemone is on the side of the tank, away from the light. Is that where it moved to?
