So everyone knows the economy sucks. I'm in thhe navy and just transferd to CT for shore duty, bought a house, and quickly realized exactly how expensive CT really is. So I put in an application for an Aquatic Specialist at Petco for the evening shift part time. In hopes to change people's perception of Petco being a bad place to buy fish. and I know that most people start the hobby with Petco being their "one stop shop" with nothing but a teenaged nerd to advise them, so they waste a lot of money and most of the time, leave the hobby angry and frustrated. We could all use some extra money, so I'm hoping I can get the job. Wish me luck!

Good luck. I know that the Petco's aquatic departments depend on having people who are in the hobby running them. I have personally seen several aquatic departments in Petco turn around due to quality employees.

I hope it works out for you!

You probably won't last too long because you'll do too much of talking people out of buying things that they shouldn't, instead of selling stuff like they hired you for... :p :)

That sounds like a great opportunity! I agree with sticksmith, if you put some work in, you can turn the department into a great place to buy livestock.

I've been impressed with our local Petco's fish stock, however sometimes the fish just seam to not be in the best of health. Just always be honest and give advise with a grain of salt. I've been to pet stores (and returned) solely on honest employees. Most mistakes could be avoided if people understood the complexity of the fish they are looking at.

I think you will have fun and create a customer base that could last longer than your employment!

    Good Luck!

Petco is the devil!! Don't do it!! (official forum answer when speaking about petco, lol)

On a serious reply, I say it sounds like a good deal though, hope you get it.

Your right every little bit helps. My wife is just now getting back to work after adding another baby into our tribe, and I have to say we definitely had to tighten the belt a notch or two the last couple months so I feel what your saying.

Trust me, I'm in the exact same boat. It's bad when you are wishing for a deployment just to get some extra peso's in the pocket.

My God, that is so true. Espcially now that my unit charges me for food when we go out to the Field.
