    I run a glass top on my 46 bow and temps are really not an issue. But I do use a relatively cool running (still hot to the touch!) LED fixture. And based on what I am seeing, even some fish that are not known jumpers can still carpet surf from time to time. Not worth the risk with ANY fish IMO. Keep it covered one way or another!

    Back to the light,you could probably find a piece of L-shaped trim moulding at lowes or home depot,cut a couple pieces to length and epoxy those legs to it so the moulding fits over the outer edge.Vinyl moulding would work good if you can find some the right size.

    What kind of filtration are you using? Do you have a sump/skimmer? If not, the glass top can inhibit gas exchange.

    I have a hang on the back protein skimmer and a regular hang on the back old power filter that came with the tank
