Depends on what you are certifing them for and what breed and state laws and city laws! My friend had to have his examed ans a letter written saying his shar-pei is not a mean dog! My friend also does not look disabled and that is why he has so many problems. His dog is trained to help him stay calm. He is a vetran and needs his dog to stay calm in certian situations. So looking at him you wouldn't know he needs his dog. It all comes down to what is needed!

I also have a Shar-pei (pure) I would like to know how it turns out training it to be a service dog as they are well known to be PIG-HEADED like mine, very hard to train.
mine is almost imposible to make submit.

She is now about 6 years old. She is very pig headed but he works with her daily and takes her everywhere. She is not allowed to get away with anything. However as Shar Peis go she is not your typical! She wants to please and be with her owner! She is also very tiny as Shar peis go! We had a tough time up until she was about 3
