Well the jury is still out but this looks a little incriminating so far...

I set up this Dymax Pico at work last month. Threw in a rock with GSP from my main tank at home. After a day or so, the GSP settled in and flourished! Waves of green with extension I actually didn't see in my main tank. It stayed like this all month until I added some Sexy shrimp.

Some days/weeks after adding the shrimp I began to see 'green hair' floating around the tank occasionally. I wondered if this was from the GSP. Cut to today and the male Sexy Shrimp hangs out on the gray blob that is the GSP now. I actually saw the polyps trying to come out today and then the male shrimp moved up there and they retracted. I saw more 'green hair' in the water. There is also a rip in the GSP that I have not noticed before.

So ummm.... this looks a bit incriminating. :)

    Anyone had a similar experience?

I saw a post from reefcentral stating the poster's shrimps ate his zoas and destroyed his GSP colony. Sounds like a feeding issue though from what I saw.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I wonder if it is just one individual doing the eating (unless you only have one).

You could be on to something here, the cure for GSP.

Wow thanks. Based on that I am wondering if they are very suited for a pico of 2 gallons if I need to feed everyday not to mention the coral munching thing.

I take full blame on this for going on 'reef safe' mentions from others and not doing enough research myself.

I am also disturbed to see a photo there that appears to be the original of a copy I used in a banner. So I either have to reach out to that person on that forum or redo it. Oy. :p

Thanks for the link all the same.

ha the cure indeed. I have a male and a female. The female is content elsewhere.

    :)
Yes I moved it from my main tank to this one. I was not trying to just get rid of it. Perhaps the shrimp misunderstood.

Yeah it has me thinking too. I came to work today mentally ready to pull the shrimp out. Oddly enough the GSP is mostly open today. First time in a few days. The male sexy shrimp is on the edge of the GSP waving his tail around. I am curious to see if he moves in and they retract again.
