The sharks your dad is interested in.... they'll slurp those small fish right up. What they can't slurp down they grab and shake apart.

An LFS buy me has a shark display.

You'll also need someone to come in and talk humidity control. You could ruin your house without it.

its going right on the foundation which is several feet of concrete, also right in the canopy there is going to be a fan that goes to the outside for ventilation so hopefully that should keep the humidity down, we have talked with the contractor and hes excited. we have no idea what to do for lighting tho. im thinking corals in such a tank would not be advised? i know the sand needs to be very fine. how would you guys suggest getting rocks? or just use reef safe cement and mold it in the tank? thats what the lfs does. any ideas? any other things you guys can think of that could go wrong? we dont want to mess up this large a tank. haha

how would you guys go about filtration. we already have a massive protein skimmer on hold its custom built by a guy around here and its about 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide. its huge. but the actual filtration we have no idea how to do this, im guessing a sump would be like out of the question because it would have to be huge! but maybe. any ideas?

Sharks aerate their gills by swim continuously as this is their only way of obtaining oxygen. I would consider making the inside of the tank somewhat circular with plenty of space for the shark to circulate the tank.

Here's what I wold have in my tank with a shark:

    1) Chiller FOR SURE (these guys like cooler water & they're very sensitive)
    2) at least 3 Heaters
    3) Protein Skimmer
    4) UV Sterilzer (this helps a lot)
    5) Overflow + Sump
    6) Refugium (just in case)
    7) A good cover (they're good at jumping out)
    8) Little Fine Sand (they tend to stir up the sand sometimes)
    9) No sharp/rough objects in the tank, these can easily scratch them
    10) A Good Auto Top Off Unit
    11) Controller
    12) An extra filter
