I want to ship a package to Virginia.

The item is sps, so it has to go overnight right?

Well UPS says that it cost 130.00 to ship overnight from AZ to VA.

I tried to go to their site and find the rates, but near to impossible, so this information is coming from the UPS shipping store. Package is about 12 by 12 by 12. This seems like an awful lot of money to ship corals?

What am I missing and what is wrong with my information?

Thank you for your imput. :)

No way! That is insane on pricing... When you go into the store ask then what other choices you have :)

you said UPS, and that is the problem. Call fed-ex or the usps.

That is kind of what I want to know. The problem as I see it though it that being over 100 F here, any other option might result in dead corals.

Don't all coral vendors send next day for live corals and such? I have shipped xenia before but it was much closer and it ran 40.00.

Yikes on the prices for shipping.

    Ok will do, thanks.

I hope in this small town we have fed-ex. Usps I am somewhat spooked about.

I just went through the same thing trying to send some stuff to FaceOfDeceit. It was going to be about $80-90 to send it to him, either UPS or Fedex. We ended up not moving forward due to that.

I was always aware vendors/businesses got discounts with the shipping companies due to volume, but it seems those discounts are quite sizable today. :(

I wouldn't bother with USPS either.

I don't trust the USPS...UPS & FedEx are about the same IME...the "rack rates" will kill you though. The only thing that saves us "coral vendors" is the volume discounts we get...with FedEx you will get a 20% discount just for having an account, but it will still be pricey...setting up an account (basically just requires having your name/address/CC info on file) and printing the label yourself will probably be your best/cheapest option.

Yup, i've looked into shipping from individuals overnight as well. Not even close to what the vendors can offer.
