should i keep him?

ok as you may know if you read my other posts i'm swithing My 55g FOWLR tank over to a full reef Setup.

I need some advice about a cleaning crew and Fish.

The tank was stocked with:

Picasso Trigger
Salifin Tang
Dogface Puffer
Lunar Wrasse
Tomato Clown
Choclate Chip Star

now i've already Relocated the trigger and Puffer to my 90g for obvious reasons and i know i'm going to leave the Tomato Clown and Sailfin Tang. But oppinions are conflicted on the lunar Wrasse should i keep him or will he become a nuisence in a reef tank? AS for the starfish My Fiance really likes starfish but he's not really a reef species from what i can tell could i keep him or is there a better species i could get to satisfy her starfish fetish

The sailfin is a keeper the Clown is also if you wanted to ? But the rest not in a real reef tank. Will you be using L/Rocks and L/Sand ? If so all you need is a few pounds of L/Sand not a tank full as with the rocks also You seed the tank with old live sand from an established system to seed the fauna and coralline If interested ? P/M me..We have sand full of micro fauna and Pods worms and tons of mini brittle stars Tanks have been up for 15 yrs and we are replacing the bottom sand and culling lots of Rocks in all the systems. Oh and I'll guarantee you the Lunar wrasse will tear every thing in there up..And so will that C.C star and the puffer. As for keeping a star Linkias are the only ones you can keep other then Brittle and ???? went brain numb ): I can't think of the dang thing now I'm sure someone smarter then me will chime in with another

I have already removed the Trigger and the Puffer to a larger tank so i'll move the C.C. star over there as well. As for the Wrasse i'm gonna have to find a home for him somewhere but i have a few weeks till i'm goign to start putting corals or inverts in.

the tank had 30 lbs of LR rock and 50lbs of live sand already which have been in the tank for over a year. 3 weeks ago i added another 30lbs of LR and i have just completed the "mini cycle" that came with that addition.

i'm starting to get some brown diatoms showing up so i'm gonna need to put in a good cleaning crew very soon. evrything seems to be fine except for a Ph of about 7.9 that i suspect is a low Mag problem from using preboxed seawater and a trace amount of phospates about .25 mg/l

io think around the first i'm goign to put in:

6 scarlethermit
6 blue-eyed hermits
12 astrea snails
2 scarlet cleaner shrimp
and a Emerald green Crab

then wait for about about a month making sure i get the Mag/Ph stabalized
before i start putting in some corals.

does this sound right?

Don't worry about the PH that really means very little and unless you have a meter then a liquid reagent test is at best close maybe ??? Its the DKH or Alkalinity or Carbonates (all of these are one in the samething just anotherr way to test and say it.) But these are what determine P.H values or the lack there of..

As for the Lunar LOL My son-in-law would not listen to my Daughter once at the LFS ! They sold him a 8 inch one said it was reef safe it tore the tank up with in a few hrs. LOL Next day he called me to ask what I thought I cxalled keith at the LFS and he made the damage to the clam and coral that where tore up good ! and the funny part was the fish had been given to the LFS because it had torn up another persons reef Abd I knew that guy also LOL He told that lady that he would tear a reef up and she knew it.. Bare faced fib That fish floated around Richmond for a few months LOL
