About to head out the door for a 4 day departure. So ASAP... ;)

Wife will be on hand to manually top off tank after two days. I lose about 1 gallon per day to evaporation. But she won't be available for first two days. (about 57 gallon total water volume)

So I'm worried about swings WRT evaporation.

Should I unplug my skimmer until I get back? Will this slow down my water loss?

(i really really need to automate this!)

It shouldn be a problem for a couple days. I top off every other day normally but sometimes miss a day. The swing in specific gravity is very minimal with that much evaporation. 3 gallons is only 5% of the tank volume.

I would unplug it. I've noticed since I started using my skimmer that my water just evaporates at like mach 3 now. It's getting hard to keep up with.

I would agree that your evaporation really isnt that big of a deal for a few days when you think about it in tank volume %.
