Boxer crab is another name for Pom Pom crab. They are the little crabs that hold small anemones in each claw and shake them at anything they feel threatened by. I've been wanting to get one or two myself but the LFS is having problems getting them in. I'm pretty sure I remeber Bruce saying he has one or two in his tank, so maybe he'll chime in.

I believe that the animal looking to be identified is a boxer shrimp, aka a coral banded shrimp. They can be aggressive towards other shrimp and sometimes fish.

OK, the tube coral is a cousin to sun polyps which have to be fed. I have heard as much as everyday all the way down to once a week. I have tried to shoot for once or twice a week. If I have quite a bit of shrimp floating on the sandbed or in the water-I will wait on feeding the pellets to the crab and shrimps so that they do "clean up." How much in pellets they get is directionally proportional to how much leftovers there are floating around.

easy way to catch bristtle worms is to get a container like a tub that butter comes in, tuperware, ect w/a lid.poke holes in the lid large enough for worms but small so nothing else can get in ,then bait it and bury it til the lids level w your sand and in the morn... bingo!!

I don't really mind the wee beasties--like I said--I know that they do a lot of good as long as they are kept in check. Think I will just pick them out as I can to keep them in check.

I have peppermint, fire, and cleaner shrimp in the same tank. No problems thus far. They basically stay by themselves(same species).
As for your target feeding and feeding in general, like amcarrig mentioned, you are OVER feeding. Flake and pellet food are going to raise your phosphate levels big time. More so than frozen foods. And to feed inverts ie. feather dusters as well as corals, they eat phyto and zooplankton. Rotifers and daphnia are very good with rotifers being smaller in size. Try feeding zooplankton one day then switch to a phytoplankton the next day for example. You have to remember that, different corals etc. feed on different food stuff. Not all corals will eat zooplankton, some will eat just phytoplankton, so very the food source. Marine snow (by Three Little Fishes)is a very good food as well as the Kent liquid foods.
I would check your phosphate level in your tank to make sure your water isn't to high, or you will have an algae problem eventually.

I had an algae problem on the back of my tank and then I bought 4 turbos and now they have pretty well mowed down all of it.

That's good! Snails do a good job at ridding algae from a tank.

    Boxer?

    Anne,
Boxer shrimp is the general name for the family to which Banded Coral Shrimp belong (Stenopods). I don't remember any other species in the family except the Ghost Boxer shrimp. From what I remember, they're all omniverous and can be cranky.
