OK, I'm not sure what my next step should be.. !!

I bought a piece of coral about the size of my fist from my LFS, has 5 or 6 nice mushrooms about the size of a half dollar... BUT

I saw some " shrimp ". Come out of the coral and run across it and back into another hole, they were fast.. maybe 1/2 inch long or less.. They were boed up alittle in the back while running..
I can't ID them, didn't get to see them that well..
    They're not bothering anything..??
I know alot of things are good for a tank.. Somethings arn't..
I know with out a picture, It'll be hard to help.. I have done searches and looked at all kinds of pictures, And can't ID them.. Could they be OK, just part of my tank..??

As of yet I have no fish..

55 Gal, 4 hermit crabs, 1 big snail, 2 feather dusters, Green Star Button Zou's. just starting out..

Think the shrimp might be OK..?
I never see them anymore, maybe my crabs were chaseing them..??
Like I said they havn't bothered anything.
And came in with the mushrooms, Which are OK, eating good, etc..

    What to do..??

    Thanks, Larry
It just freaks me out when I see something in my tank, and I don't know what it is.. I don't have another tank, yet.. To check stuff out when I bring it home, BUT will.. !!!!

    Amphipods...

Really are like a little shrimp or sand flea...

Will multiply and prosper in a healthy tank. Helping keep tank clean, eating any excess food bits floating about, or better yet, serving as food for many other tank inhabitants...

Watch rock at night with a flashlight...will probably see hundreds darting on and about rock. And different kind also... (plus will see lots of other cool stuff not seen during day. i.e. different kinds of worms, feather dusters, other kinds of "wiggly's")

I like to point light directly down from surface...and in moments all kinds of quick swimming little creatures are attracted to light and come up near surface...(is especially cool if you can do right after a fish "hatching" ---will see hundreds of little larval fish boiling about under light)

Takes very little about tank to entertain me...:p

    Enjoy...

What would eat feeder shrimp ( IF that's what these are )..

So whatever these are, It's cool just to enjoy the tank...
I want to get me 2 baby Clowns, or something..

Thanks for any, and all info, I'm just learning.. And don't want to screw up
    things..

I've been reading all the threads, going real slow setting up..
But tomorrow... My first fish.. !!! My tank has been ready ...

    Thanks again, Larry

I had the same thing happen this week. My tank has been cycling for a week and I found one of these guys hanging out in a portion of the live rock. So far I have not been able to ID them. Mine looks the color of a brine shrimp with long antenea. Have fun!

When you get fish they might disappear.
