Please help, my lotus loach is sick! so im really sorry i started all this with no knowledge... i didnt know about " the cycle " then i didnt know you could cycle without fish, so im a big fat fish killer. really sorry about that.
So i have a 25gal. Freshwater tank. 1 lotus loach and 1 not sure.. some kind of goldfish i think? it has brains. and 1 antisocial black moore in 1 1/2 gal tank.
My loach is sick! even tho the tank is cycling, i dont think thats his prob. he was fine beforewhen everything was spiked way off the charts, i think its trying to level out er whatever it does...im so confused by the cycle.
So loach has been sick for i think tday is day 3. so he cant seem to swim, when he tries it more like a seizsure. only swimming at the bottem but mostly just not moving much. Mostly just for feeding time...but well he comes out at feeding time but i dont think hes really eating. he also ends up on his side or back sometimes. i think maybe it happened after i gave him new food? tetramin tropical tablets.
well if anything can help this guy please let me know i really like him! tanks ;)

If you water tests terrible try changing out some of it in an attempt to lower your test results. As long as the fish is eating you have a chance. Even if it stops there are ways to try to coax them to eat.

Actually with what you said about the lizard... without research and planning and taking the time to know what you are getting in to before you do it you may have issues with the lizard too. I had an iguana for years and proper health care for even a "freegin lizard" might be difficult for you if this is how you will handle it. If you want fish and your tank crashes and your fish die well, as sad as it is, you're probably a good portion of the way though your cycle. You could let it finish and then get a new fish. Rash decisions, panic, and lack of proper research on what you buy will probably land you right back where you are though.

Sorry your tank experience isn't what you imagined. I research by reading the wealth of knowledge across the internet. You can pretty much go to www.google.com and type in your question or subject of learning... Below is the first link I found under a search for "fish tank cycle process"

    This link: http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquarium/cycling.php

While that site may not have all of the information that search has a lot of sites of information to read and if read from now till you move on all of the topics you aren't sure about you probably feel confident in setting back up your tank later. I wish you the best of luck with everything and maybe we will see some pictures of you tank on here some day.

I had a rough start myself. I sunk over 1500 bucks in to a tank and set up when I was in your shoes... It took me a few years to get the courage up to try again but I thoroughly enjoy it now. I still learn things so don't expect to get it all up front. Take care!

Ok ok i know im just freaking out as ive done a few time before. Ive been trying this since december, learning little bits as i go cuz its been so hard to get proper info on what to do ive been doing everything wrong including asking advice from the pet store... I finally found ONE person there with knowlege. Usually its here put this stuff in.... This si how i ended up with the tank of death with lord know how many chemicals in it. I cleaned out the entire thing after that aand let it run with filters for a month with no fish to insure no left over ick... If only i wouldve known about the fishless cycle then. i had no clue about the cycle till i already had fish, didnt know bout the fishless cycle till a couple days ago... So again im very sorry for being so inhumane n using fish in the cycle. Weve managed to kill 10 since dec.
Eyeballz ( black moore ) is the oldest i think ive had him since feb. Somehow this guy has been sick a few times now and ive managed to nurse him back to health without even knowing what im doing. So i put him back in the 25g. Yesterday, he seems much happier.
The loach.... I really think it this swim bladder problem ive read about. It fits best to his symptoms. Is there anything that can be done for him???
Ill be doing water test later. Btw i dont see how the complicated test tubes method is any better than the test strips! But i have tubes now so whatever.
Im sorry i ramble alot i geuss. But if anybody can give some advice on the loach swimbladder issue itd be great. Oh it does help to know im not the only thqts gone thru this obnoxious crap.
