I just bought two clowns about a week ago. One is doing great, he is swimming and eating etc. However one is not doing too well, I have not seen him eat and his mouth is opening and closing rapidly. He does not swim much and moves slowly about. I have him in the quarantine tank right now. I do not see anything physically wrong besides the rapids mouth movements and slow swimming. I don't know what's wrong with him or what to do, please help.

I am thinking it might be clownfish disease, but he doesn't seem to have a mucus covering or greyish covering, but he is swimming slowly, no appetite and i think rapid breathing

well i went out and got some anti bacterial medicine and dosed the tank, I also added some honey into the tank to feed him. (I know you can't do it forever, but he is not eating and he will 'eat' the sugar through the water). Im going to give it some time and see what happens, im hoping for the best.

Im sorry to say that I don't think this little guy is going to make it. Im still not sure what he has, I tried some antibiotics and feeding him through the water, but to no avail. He is laying on his side at the bottom of the tank with his gills out and struggling to breath. Is there any way I can 'put him out of his misery' humanly?

You could always flush him, but I would just wait for him to die then fish him out. Another way is to freeze him, this is probably the most "humane" way to do it. Put him in a bag and throw him in the freezer, but like I said I would just let nature take its course.

sorry to say that I woke up this morning to find my clown dead, I kinda knew this was coming. I tried everything that I could to save him, so I don't feel so bad. I will go to the lfs soon to buy another, more healthy one.
