    Hello,
Everybody has been so nice to the newbies like me so thanks for that.

Before I filled my tank with water I was wondering if it would be good to silicone it. My tank is 4 years old, I bought it used and most of the silicone look great. The 2 front corner are not as smooth looking as the other ones. So should I remove the old stuff or could i just touch it up over it or is it normal wear and tear?

I would just fill it and watch for leaks. If it leaks than fine, remove the old and add some new silicone.

If you are worried get some acetone to clean the area you wish to cover. Then apply silicone over and smooth it out with your finger. Get your finger wet before smoothing out the silicone.

Before you add silicone do a water test first. Just put tap water in for a couple of days and see if you have any leaks.

When you reseal you need to reseal the whole seam where the leak is.

Yep, these couple of posts are spot on.

First off, do a leak test. I doubt you will have an issue witha 4 year old tank unless the silicone has been compromised. I had a 20+ year old AGA 35g that had no issues and was used on an off (msotly on) for those 20 + years.
