silicone w/fungicide ?

    has anyone used silicone with that in it in a reef tank and what was the outcome, the reason i ask is cause i just found out i did and am wondering what effects it will have on my corals, i am running carbon, what do you all think???? thanks for your thoughts...

    i came on here to tell you not to.....but since you already have......i have no advice! sorry. hopefully some of the gurus will answer your question.
    how long has the tank been up and running since u used the silicone?
    any deaths?

    7 months and no deaths but all corals always look like they are never happy?

    You can use any of the $4 tubes of GE or DAP silicon at home depot. They only say they're not for aquarium usage, so that the company is not liable for anyone's tank leaking and water damage, etc. No harm should come to your inhabitants due to the silicon.

    I used the cheapo DAP to make a fuge in my sump.. worked great

    I think what he is asking is , he used silicone with fungicide in it not the regular silicone.
    everybody has said not to use it but i cant offer any advice as to what it might leech into the water.

    yes that is the ? will it harm any thing in my tank after i used it?

    sorry mate. guess no-one has any smart ideas on this one. unless youre willing to empty it, scrape the old silicone and replace it....i dont see what else you can do. imho i believe that the fungicide is like a sustained release, the chemicals in the silicone prevent it from growing....now, i am not sure if the fungicide will release in the water but do you want to take that chance? and you have decide whether you will risk the specimens in your tank, vs the time/effort it would take to reseal it. i know, im no help! i just ramble.....good luck though!
